Gutter Guard
What is the new Gutter Guard System?
If you suffer from clogged gutters and downspouts, then Gutter Guard is the dynamic modern solution. To prevent clogging and blockages, Rooflines have developed a new patented, scientifically engineered gutter protection system. Water continues to efficiently flow and drain off any roof, keeping it away from your home. This prevents water damage problems to the roofline area, fascias, timbers, and roof timbers making future repairs very unlikely.
The Gutter Guard System was developed because existing methods simply don’t work. A Mesh System ends up with a carpet layer of rotting leaves and a Gutter Brush system becomes clogged with the build-up of unsightly debris. The Simple Downpipe Balloon is an existing nightmare for most people because it prevents your downpipe from becoming clogged at the expense of clogging your gutter with the result of significant overflow during downpours.
Here are some of the main benefits of the Gutter Guard System:

- Specially designed ‘steps’ deflect leaf and twig debris so they fall to the ground below and don’t end up in your gutter.
- The Gutter Guard System saves time and money because you would normally have to pay out to clean your gutters every year. Old systems like the mesh or brush gutter defenders will collect debris and have to be removed, pressure washed, and re-fitted.
- The Rooflines patented design means water adheres to the product surface as it flows over the downward steps, into the channels, through the drain holes, and into the gutter. It does not impede water flow, ensuring your drainage is optimised.
- Gutter Guard blocks birds and rodents from making their home in the gutter system. They simply can’t gain access.
- The Gutter Guard’s unique design uses a fin-leg. This ensures the device is sealed to minimise the chances of water and ice backing up under the roof tiles.
- This unique product is built to last. It is made from rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) for durability.
- Gutter Guard is versatile and can fit any slope of roof. It cuts easily and uses flexible joints for easy adjustment.
- Fits ALL types of Plastic and Aluminium Gutter in various shapes and sizes – Black/White/even Brown
Gutter Guard Works! Finally, a system that helps to prevent blocked and clogged gutters. Gutter Guard is a patented product now used nationwide. If you would like to know more about Gutter Guard, how easy it is to fit, and who your local Rooflines contact might be, then please get in touch.
“I had Gutter Guard fitted and it works perfectly. We have so many overhanging trees causing repeated gutter blockages, it became normal to climb ladders to clear them. Now we don’t have to. This product seems so simple, but actually, a lot of common sense has gone into its design. Very pleased!” – Janet P, Farnborough

What are the alternatives?
The other methods that don’t work

Mesh System
The Mesh System is usually plastic, however, some are aluminium. The system sits across the trough of the gutter, and are really only designed for the simplest of round gutters. Their use is very limited. Mesh systems are hard to fit, but the main problem is the increasing collection of leaves, moss and other debris on the mesh until has it’s own ‘carpet layer of rotting debris’. The consequence is rainwater flowing over matted debris and straight onto the ground below. You would have been better off removing your gutters entirely! There are inherent annual costs with mesh systems too. After the autumn leaf drop, you will have to totally dismantle them (which isn’t easy) and jet wash the entire system and the gutters and then refit again. This is an awkward and costly process.

Gutter Brush System
A gutter brush system is not able to be fixed in place. The brush only rests in the gutter trough making them susceptible to wind. Without debris, they can literally blow out and end up on the drive, patio, or flowerbed. A brush system is often unsightly. Lots of debris can usually be seen from the ground, making your house look like it needs some care and attention! Sadly, a brush system also does not prevent the downpipe from becoming blocked. Downpipes will collect debris, which has to be removed, cleaned, and re-fitted. This can be a costly annual task.

Simple Downpipe Balloon
You don’t see many builders fitting these. There is a reason for that. Within weeks of autumn, they will receive a call from their former client saying their gutter is overflowing. A pipe balloon system is fine if you have a low, short gutter length to maintain e.g. on a shed or garage, but not for the main guttering on a property. Pipe balloons are usually plastic, can also be wire; they fit into the outlet of the gutter feeding the downpipe. They help to prevent leaves and debris from going down the pipe and causing blockages below. The big issue is they themselves become blocked with matted debris in your main guttering. The water then has nowhere to drain and overflows down the front of the building. It is inevitable you won’t see the build-up until it’s too late. Then, you, have to go up and clean the gutters out – costly, usually annually. Was the Balloon worth the few pounds?
